Stephanie’s Story

After contracting COVID-19 and spending more than four months in the hospital—much of that time in the Intensive Care Unit, on a ventilator—Stephanie was scared she might never walk again. But thanks to a combination of Early Rehab, Inpatient Rehab and In-Home Rehab, she’s made a remarkable recovery.

 

Bob’s Story

Bob lost both of his legs in a car accident. Through his incredible spirit, he now helps other amputees to overcome their own challenges.

 

Fred’s Story

When Harrison Township firefighter/paramedic Fred Darga was injured at work, he believed his lower right back was strained beyond repair. Physicial therapists at Henry Ford Macomb Health Center-Chesterfield's outpatient rehabilitation made a significant impact on Fred's life when he needed it the most.

 

Jerome’s Story

Jerome Busam, 80, came to Henry Ford Macomb as a rehabilitation patient, after suffering a stroke. He was one of the first patients to use a new wearable robotic exoskeleton as part of his rehabilitation at the hospital.

 

Gloria’s Story

When Gloria Rubis was diagnosed with a debilitating bacterial meningitis, her world turned upside down. After two weeks spent recovering in the ICU, the Henry Ford Wyandotte inpatient rehab team helped her to regain abilities that once seemed so simple.
