Our team of specialists focuses on your unique cancer.

Our approach to cancer care demands the best experts at the table to develop your treatment plan. Our tumor boards include fellowship-trained physicians and specialists from a broad range of areas. These specialists gather weekly or every other week to discuss individual patients. Though you may have a relationship with just a few of our physicians, you actually are getting the expertise of a dozen or more. These specialists discuss and agree on the best treatment plan for you.

What is a tumor board?

Tumor boards are internal forums in which we evaluate each cancer patient’s case individually. We discuss the best treatment options -- including clinical trials, if appropriate -- based on your cancer type and specific medical needs. We log notes in our secure electronic medical records system to keep communication flowing between the specialists after each board meeting.

Members of our tumor boards have specialty training in your specific type of cancer, and include:

• Surgeons
• Radiation oncologists
• Radiologists
• Medical oncologists
• Pathologists
• Nurse navigators
• Social workers and other supportive specialists

Our cancer tumor boards

Our specialists meet regularly in cancer-specific tumor boards. These forums include:

• Bladder cancer
• Bone and musculoskeletal cancer
• Brain tumors
• Breast cancer
• Digestive cancers, including pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and
• colorectal cancer
• Head and neck cancers
• Kidney cancer
• Leukemia and lymphoma
• Lung cancer
• Melanoma and other skin cancers
• Prostate cancer
• Spine cancer
• Thyroid cancer
• Women’s cancers

Additionally, cancer pain management conferences, similar in structure to our tumor boards, are routinely held to provide a team approach to the management of cancer pain.

Multidisciplinary clinics

Five multidisciplinary cancer care clinics (available in select locations) provide patients with a unique opportunity to meet with all physician specialists in one comprehensive visit. Tumor boards are held prior to these clinics and physicians present patients with their personalized treatment options based on the collective expertise of tumor board participants. Our nurse coordinators then help to make all the necessary appointments needed for each patient's treatment plan.
