Hospice Careers

Make a meaningful difference

When a cure is no longer possible, the Henry Ford Hospice care team helps patients live their remaining days to the fullest. Your skills and compassion make a meaningful difference every day, as you focus on providing comfort, improving quality of life and easing anxiety through emotional support for patients and families.

On the Henry Ford Hospice care team, you will be part of a dedicated group of experts working together with our exceptional physicians to provide professional and respectful patient-centered care. Every role is important to making the end-of-life experience comfortable and positive. Our internal surveys tell us 97 percent of our team members feel they are doing meaningful work.

Our team provides hospice care at the patient’s own home or assisted living facility, at one of Henry Ford Health’s five hospitals or at Henry Ford Hospice Home – Jackson.

Why choose a hospice career?

Hospice care offers the unique opportunity to personally connect with patients and their families in ways that few other services can match. You will have the satisfaction of helping patients at their end of life live every day in the best way possible. You will also provide education and support for families at an emotionally difficult time, ease their responsibility of care and allow them to spend meaningful time with their loved one. Since every day is different, you will continue to learn and use more skills.

Finding purpose and joy

“Little did I know when I started at Henry Ford Hospice years ago that my team would become like a family to me. I not only have the satisfaction of helping others, but I also have a great team that shares my compassion and quality care for patients and their families.”

Michelle Bussineau, MSW, Hospice Social Worker

“I have worked with Henry Ford Hospice for more than 10 years, and it has truly been a great experience. I love keeping families smiling no matter what they may be going through. I have cried and laughed with families, and I go home knowing I did my job well.”

Yvette Hunt, Hospice Coordinator

“Caregiving is hard work for families. It’s a 24/7 job with no breaks and little sleep. When Hospice provides the care, families can make their last days together meaningful, even joyful. Hospice Home has celebrated weddings and birthdays, seen estranged families reunite, and welcomed visits from patients’ beloved pets. We encourage families to find joy together.”

Melissa Doser, Nurse Practitioner, Henry Ford Hospice Home – Jackson

Deann-Sturdivant

“I love the holistic team approach for patients facing the end of life. I enjoy educating and empowering caregivers and seeing them care for their loved ones with confidence. My patients and families have taught me what is truly important in life and have shown me what gratefulness looks like, even in very difficult circumstances.”

Deann Sturdivant, RN, Hospice
