Eye Care Assistants play a crucial role in patient care, working directly with individuals before they meet with an Ophthalmologist. Their responsibilities encompass taking detailed medical histories, performing contact lens fittings, and even assisting in surgical settings. This dynamic position offers a unique blend of patient interaction and technical skills.

Our comprehensive training approach

The Eye Care Assistant Training Program at Henry Ford Health is a 12-month, immersive learning experience. As a full-time team member, you'll receive on-the-job training at one of our state-of-the-art Ophthalmology sites. By the end of your training, you'll be fully prepared to sit for your certification exam, opening doors to a rewarding career in eye care. Visit the certification center to learn more.

Program requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Clinical setting experience preferred (but not required)
