With Video Visits On Demand from Henry Ford Health, you can get same-day care from the comfort of your home or another convenient spot. All you need is access to the internet on a computer or mobile device. This Virtual Care option lets you tap into the same expert care you expect from in-person visits at Henry Ford.
When selecting a Video Visit On Demand, please consider:
- What this is for: Video Visits On Demand are available to treat minor conditions for patients 1 year and older. At this time, Video Visits On Demand are available for patients in Michigan and Florida only.
- When this is available: Video Visits On Demand are available 24/7/365. Our same-day options allow you to get in line for the next available doctor or select a same-day appointment time that fits your schedule.
- What you need: Virtual doctor visits use Henry Ford MyChart (our patient portal) and a computer or mobile device with a microphone and camera. If you don’t already have one, you can easily get a MyChart account. Access the MyChart webpage on your computer, or download the MyChart app for Android or Apple tablets and smartphones.
- What this costs: Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover the cost of a video visit. Co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance may apply. Patients will be billed between $0-$99 for this service, depending on insurance coverage.

Instructions for your virtual doctor visit
Video Visits On Demand are for immediate care only. Here’s what you can expect during your virtual doctor visit:
- All video visits are conducted securely through Henry Ford MyChart.
- You will be assigned a doctor from our Virtual Primary Care team. Providers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- After your appointment, the notes from your video visit will be available in MyChart under the “Visit” icon in the “Past” section.
- The audio and video from the visit are not recorded.
Follow these step-by-step instructions:

For smartphones and tablets (recommended)
If you are using a mobile device or tablet, the MyChart app is preferred. You can download it in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Open the MyChart app on your device and log in to your Henry Ford MyChart account.
- Under “Menu,” choose the “Video Visit On Demand” option.
- Follow the prompts to select your current location and prepare for your visit. Click “Put Me in Line” or a specific time with a provider listed.
- Type the reason for your visit and select a notification preference. Click “Schedule.”
- To eCheck-In, verify your personal information, including insurance, current medications, preferred pharmacy, allergies, current health issues and payment information.
- Choose “Begin Visit.”
- The default browser on your mobile device will now launch and automatically complete a hardware test to ensure that you have a working microphone, speaker and camera. Be sure to allow access to these if prompted.
- Once you have completed a successful hardware test, you will see your video in the lower-right corner of your screen. Click “Join Call” when you are ready to join.
For optimal video viewing quality for you and your provider, please hold your mobile device horizontally (on its side). - Once the provider joins the visit, you can begin speaking with the provider. If you get disconnected during the video visit, return to MyChart and follow the previous steps.
- When the visit is over, end the call by clicking "Leave Call."

Important to note: Nonemergency use only
- Video visits are not for medical emergencies. In case of an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
- If you are driving during a video visit, your provider will end the visit immediately for your safety.
Same-day prescriptions
If your doctor prescribes medication for you during your virtual visit, you can request same-day delivery of your prescription for no added charge when using a Henry Ford Pharmacy. This service is available Monday through Friday and to assure same-day delivery, your prescription order must be received by the pharmacy staff before 3 p.m. To participate in this service, ask your prescribing provider to add a note that home delivery is requested from your preferred Henry Ford pharmacy. A pharmacy team member will contact you to confirm your address and delivery confirmation.
