Ongoing care and resources for patients and families
Behavioral and mental healthcare doesn’t stop when you go home from the hospital -- in fact, that’s just the beginning.
When we admit you for inpatient psychiatric care, one of the first and most important aspects of your treatment plan involves lining up support systems for when you go home. We’ll provide you with contacts for ongoing outpatient care. Support systems can vary from patient to patient. We often work with patients’ loved ones if patients allow them to be part of care, and that support continues after each patient goes home.
Support through NAMI Michigan
NAMI Michigan is our state’s affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The organization provides important resources to patients and families who need ongoing support for behavioral and mental health conditions after inpatient care.
One such resource is the NAMI Michigan Family Resource Guide (PDF), a collection of information and insights for families touched by mental illness.
We also encourage patients and family members in the Detroit metro area and throughout Michigan to take advantage of the following educational and support resources collected by NAMI Metro -- Oakland, Wayne & Macomb Counties:
- Local, state, and national organizations and agencies, as well as in-depth information on mental illness
- NAMI Metro support groups, including peer-led groups for people with mental illness and family groups for loved ones of those with mental illness
