Physician Referrals

With more than 350,000 patient visits to the Department of Medicine at Henry Ford each year, we want to be sure every patient receives a timely appointment. The Henry Ford Referring Physician Office will assist physicians throughout the referral process, ensuring every patient has access to the best treatments available and timely appointments.

The referring physician office personnel are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Services include:

• Rapid physician-to-physician consultation
• Coordination of second opinions
• Coordination of multiple patient appointments (routine and urgent)
• New patient registration and insurance verification
• Information about physician-specific areas of expertise
• Preferred and timely access to Henry Ford facilities and specialists
• Critical care transport
• Shared access to the referred patient's medical records
• Concierge services for traveling patients
