School-Based and Community Health Program

Henry Ford Health’s School-Based and Community Health Program provides primary care and behavioral health services to children ages 5-21 regardless of health insurance coverage or ability to pay. Our clinics are located within more than a dozen schools in Detroit, Lincoln Park, and Macomb County, one community location, as well as a mobile medical unit that travels to various locations.

Clinic services are available to children and young adults while schools are closed

We continue to provide primary care and behavioral health services at all of our health centers throughout the year even while schools are closed. Appointments are encouraged but not needed and young people do not have to be a student at the school to receive care.

What if I don’t have health insurance?

Our health centers accept all Medicaid and private insurance plans. You will not be turned away if you do not have health insurance coverage or are unable to pay. No patient will ever receive a bill for the services provided at our School-Based Health  and Community Health centers.

For minor patients to obtain general health services at any of our health centers, a signed consent form must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. Additionally, specific services related to behavioral health, sexual health, and substance use treatment are available to minors without parental consent under Michigan’s Minor Consent Laws.
