1990-present

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital marked the 1990s with phenomenal growth, driven in large part by the relationships developed both locally and regionally. In 1990, sponsorship of Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, which was then known as St. Joseph's, was transferred to the Sisters of Mercy and became part of an innovative partnership between Mercy Health Services and Henry Ford Health.

That same year, St. Joseph's Mercy opened southeast Michigan's first newly-constructed women's center with single room birthing suites. In 1996, the Cancer Care Center, in partnership with Henry Ford Health's Josephine Ford Cancer Institute, opened to provide technologically advanced, compassionate care close to home.

1990 - Sponsorship of Henry Ford Macomb is transferred from the Cincinnati-based Sisters of Charity to the Farmington Hills-based Sisters of Mercy. St. Joseph, as the hospital was known then, becomes a member of the Henry Ford Mercy Health Network, an innovative partnership between Mercy Health Services and Henry Ford Health. The 68,000-square-foot Women's Center opens at West hospital, featuring southeast Michigan's first newly constructed center with single room birthing suites.

1993 - Henry Ford Macomb leads the formation of "Creating a Healthier Macomb," an internationally award-winning initiative involving a consortium of area businesses, hospitals and human service agencies designed to improve the quality of life for Macomb County residents.

1995 - New Emergency Department opens at hospital.

1996 - Cancer Care Center opens in partnership with Henry Ford Health's Josephine Ford Cancer Center. 1998 Fraser Health Center opens.

2007 - Henry Ford Health acquires the St. Joseph Healthcare company from the Trinity Health System, the descendent of the Mercy Health Services system.
