1960-1979
Henry Ford Macomb Hospital continued to expand in the 1960s and 1970s, serving the growing population of Macomb County with the opening a new 168-bed hospital wing.
In 1972, when ground broke for a new hospital in Clinton Township, most of the area surrounding the site of Henry Ford Macomb was farmland. Lakeside Mall was a concept on some developer's mind and M-59 was a two-lane road. The construction of the new hospital was accompanied by a major renovation of Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens.
1962 - New 168-bed hospital wing opens. The Alcoholism Treatment Center is established and Henry Ford Macomb becomes the first in the area to treat alcoholism on an inpatient basis.
1967 - The Community Guidance Center opens to provide outpatient mental health services.
1972 - On May 1, ground is broken for a 300-bed hospital in Clinton Township.
1975 - On September 27, West hospital is dedicated, with the first patient admitted November 6.
1976 - Area's first family care clinic opens.
