1960-1979

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital continued to expand in the 1960s and 1970s, serving the growing population of Macomb County with the opening a new 168-bed hospital wing.

In 1972, when ground broke for a new hospital in Clinton Township, most of the area surrounding the site of Henry Ford Macomb was farmland. Lakeside Mall was a concept on some developer's mind and M-59 was a two-lane road. The construction of the new hospital was accompanied by a major renovation of Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens.
