A Message From the Program Director
Welcome to the Henry Ford Sleep Medicine Fellowship!
We are happy that you are considering this opportunity to train at one of the most renowned institutions in the field. The Henry Ford Sleep Center has a rich history. Founded in 1978 by Dr. Thomas Roth, who is a true pioneer and legend in sleep medicine, the Henry Ford Sleep Disorders and Research Center has long been committed to advancing the science of sleep. From its beginnings, our center has been dedicated to the development and teaching of sleep science, and we are very proud to continue that legacy with our ongoing commitment to advancing sleep medicine.
When I began my sleep fellowship, I had no idea how fortunate I was to have chosen this specialty. Sleep medicine is a young and dynamic field, with constant advancements and discoveries. Sleep impacts nearly every aspect of our health, from cognitive function to immune response and metabolic health. Clinically, it is deeply rewarding to witness a patient's life improve after finally getting a good night’s sleep. It is our mission to share our insight into sleep medicine and to empower individuals to prioritize their sleep for better overall health. Through this fellowship, I’ve learned that improving sleep is not just about treating disorders, but about fostering a broader cultural shift toward valuing rest, recovery, and balance in our fast-paced world.
Our fellowship integrates clinical excellence, research, and the application of the latest technologies in sleep medicine- such as hypoglossal nerve and phrenic nerve stimulation devices. Our fellows gain experience across a wide range of sleep disorders and patient populations, benefiting from close collaboration with other specialties, including pulmonology, general medicine, neurology, psychiatry, dentistry, and otolaryngology. In addition to our clinical and research opportunities, we place a strong emphasis on teaching, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment that empowers fellows to thrive both professionally and personally.
I hope this page helps you get all the information you need about our program. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly or our program coordinator if you have any questions. We are excited about the possibility of you joining us in continuing the tradition of excellence at the Henry Ford Sleep Medicine Fellowship.
Warm regards,
Miriam Jaziri, MD
