Neuroradiology Research

The majority of our research is centered on brain tumors and cerebrovascular diseases. Brain tumor advanced imaging includes perfusion imaging using CT perfusion as well as MR perfusion. We also are working to increase the use of functional MR and diffusion tensor imaging for brain tumors.

Following are some of the currently active projects

  • Perfusion CT imaging of brain tumors: in-vivo evaluation of brain tumor angiogenesis using histological angiogenesis markers
  • Perfusion CT to differentiate radiation necrosis from recurrent tumors
  • Role of tumor permeability surface area-product for brain tumor grading
  • Role of acquisition time for assessment of brain tumor permeability surface area-product
  • Comparison of perfusion CT and MR perfusion in brain tumors
  • Differentiating non-neoplastic lesions from neoplasms using perfusion imaging
  • Radiation necrosis imaging features and spectrum of radiation effects
  • Imaging patterns of failure with anti-angiogenic treatment
  • Work also is being done in MR Neurography, its relationship to EMG and pain management

Fellow involvement

Currently, fellows are involved with many of the above mentioned projects. In addition, we also offer funding for a research fellowship.
