Pain, whether it is caused by the effects of a surgical operation, disorder like arthritis or related to joint or nerve pain, is uncomfortable and often prohibits sufferers from fully living their lives. Our pain management specialists are experts in working with you to determine your source of pain and develop the best treatment option to alleviate it.

Diagnostic studies

We use various studies to determine your source of pain. These include:

• Discography: Used to pinpoint which spinal disc is causing back or leg pain.
• Sympathetic Nerve Block: The sympathetic nervous system is a network of nerves that start at the spinal cord and branch out throughout the body. This system is controlled by ganglions (bunched areas of nerves). The sympathetic nerve block test helps determine if hyperactive ganglia are causing sensations of tingling, burning or pain in the limbs.
• Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS): These studies assess muscle and nerve function to identify causes and sources of pain.
• Radiology Studies: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) and other radiological studies help define body structures and disease processes in relation to pain.
