Hand and Wrist Care: What to Expect
At Henry Ford Health, our orthopedic specialists take pride in combining compassionate care and clinical expertise. Whether you’ve had an accident or need relief from an old injury, you are in good hands with us. Discover what to expect when you choose us for hand and wrist care.
Expert hand and wrist consultation
Our hand and wrist experts care about your whole experience — not just the end results. When you come in for a consultation, we collect details about your complete medical history. You’ll meet with a hand doctor who will thoroughly examine your hand and wrist. This in-person examination is critical. Physical exams often provide information that imaging alone doesn’t.
Your doctor may take other steps for diagnosing a hand or wrist condition, such as imaging tests like X-ray or MRI. Some imaging tests can be done right here during the initial consultation. You may have other tests after the consultation and come back to review results with your doctor.
Expect your doctor to review all of your diagnostic information and explain your hand and wrist treatment options. We believe in giving you all the information you need so you can make the right choice for you.
Support at every step
At Henry Ford, we never want you to feel alone. One of the hallmarks of our care is extensive patient support. We make sure you know what to expect before, during and after your treatment. Your care team includes not only doctors and nurses, but also medical assistants, cast technicians, physical and occupational therapists, and other medical professionals committed to answering all your questions and seeing to your treatment needs.
Communication with your care team can prevent complications and give you peace of mind as you heal. All of our patients have access to MyChart. With MyChart you always have access to your providers — in many cases, without having to leave the comfort of home.
