Neuromuscular Disorders

Henry Ford Health helps people with neuromuscular disorders live better. Our nationally renowned experts deliver leading treatments that reduce the impact of symptoms on your daily life. We build a lasting relationship with you, which makes it easier to provide timely, personalized care. And our research is exploring new therapies that are advancing the field.

What are neuromuscular disorders?

Neuromuscular conditions can be due to issues with your nerves or muscles and how they communicate with the brain. These diseases often have no cure, but expert care from Henry Ford may slow progression and prevent complications.

Neuromuscular condition testing and treatment: Why choose us?

You receive services from trusted neurologists with a particular interest in neuromuscular disease. Some completed additional training through fellowships and are leaders in the field.

Highlights of our program include:

  • National recognition: Our commitment to high care standards and record of excellent outcomes has earned some of our programs prestigious designations. We maintain top honors from the ALS Association, GBS-CIDP Foundation International and American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM).
  • Team approach: Neuromuscular disorder experts work with additional specialists to treat complex conditions like myasthenia gravis, peripheral neuropathy and myopathy and myositis. We coordinate the additional assessments and services you need for a seamless experience. Few other programs in the region have this capability.
  • Innovation and leadership: We are advancing care for neuromuscular disorders through research. Specialists run clinical trials that deepen our understanding of these conditions and lead to new treatments. Our team also provides extensive training to the next generation of neuromuscular disease specialists through a clinical neurophysiology fellowship.
  • Support: Neuromuscular disorders can bring unexpected changes to your life — we’re here to help you navigate them. Nurses, social workers and therapists find solutions to challenges and provide access to additional services so you can focus on healing. We also offer family-based support through our C.A.R.E. Program.
