Darin's Story

When Darin Donahue came into this world, he had a number of light to brown pigmented birthmarks, known as café-au-lait-spots, on his skin. His mother explained to him that they were "the doctor’s thumb prints." At about age 12, Darin was officially diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1).

What keeps me going is proving that there’s a place for everyone, and everyone deserves a chance, no matter what they look like. I owe it to my mom and sister who can’t fight any more. They’ve given me superpower to get my story told.”
