Replacement therapy for hemophilia

Replacement therapy is the main treatment for patients with hemophilia. These therapies replace the clotting factor that is missing or low in a patient.

Our treatment options include:

• Immunosuppressant therapy for patients with acquired hemophilia, including:
  • Steroids
  • Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG)
  • Certain chemotherapy drugs, such as:
    • Cyclophosphamide
    • Vincristine
    • Rituximab
• Medications, including antifibrinolytics (drugs that facilitate clotting)
• Desmopressin (DDAVP) for patients with mild hemophilia, or von Willebrand disease
• Local clotting therapies, such as thrombin gel and fibrin glue

Anticoagulants and therapies for thrombosis
