Alok Sachdeva, MD

Biographical Statement

Alok Sachdeva, MD, trained in neurology and epilepsy at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, then went on to complete a sleep medicine fellowship with University of Michigan Health in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His clinical work focuses on the field of sleep medicine, which includes conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia, REM sleep behavior disorder, restless legs syndrome, and insomnia. Dr. Sachdeva has published on topics including shift work disorder, sleep paralysis, and excessive daytime sleepiness. He has served as a member of the Lifelong Learning and Development Committee of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Healthcare Policy Committee of the Michigan Association of Sleep Medicine, and the Advocacy Committee of the American Alliance for Healthy Sleep. Prior to joining the Henry Ford Health System, Dr. Sachdeva helped launch University of Michigan Health’s sleep clinic and laboratory in Brighton, Michigan and was the medical director of Summit Sleep Services in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

In the 1920s, Dr. Francis W. Peabody famously wrote, “One of the essential qualities of the clinician is interest in humanity, for the secret of the care of the patient is in caring for the patient.” I strive to provide medical care that is high-quality, evidence-based, and thoughtfully addresses the unique questions and concerns of each patient.
