Frequently Asked Questions About Patient Satisfaction Survey

In partnership with Press Ganey, Henry Ford Health is publishing Patient Satisfaction survey results onto Find A Doctor. Since introducing this tool, we have received some questions from our patients.

These are the answers to some of our more frequently asked questions:

Do I have to fill out a patient satisfaction survey?

If you are selected for a survey, participation is completely voluntary. However, your feedback is crucial to helping us understand our strengths and missed opportunities throughout the care experience journey, so that we may make improvements and ensure you have the best care possible.

What is a care provider?

A care provider may be a physician (primary care physicians and specialists) or an Advanced Practice Provider such as a nurse practitioner, midwife, physician assistant or audiologist.

How are star ratings calculated?

Henry Ford Health calculates star ratings by using the survey measure, "Overall Doctor Rating 0-10."

Why doesn't my provider have ratings/comments?

To have ratings and comments included on their profile, a provider must have at least 30 surveys returned in a 18-month period.

How can I leave a comment for my provider?

After an appointment with a Henry Ford provider you may receive a patient survey, either by email or post. We value our patient experience survey results, provided by an independent patient experience company named Press Ganey, and use the results to learn how we can improve your health care experience.

If you are not tapped for a survey, but would like talk about your experience, please feel free to submit a patient testimonial.

Please note: By filling out a patient testimonial, you are giving Henry Ford Health permission to use your story for public relations or marketing activities. Please read the privacy statement at the end of the form.

Are all comments posted?

We collect comments from the "Describe your experience with this provider," section of the survey and post them weekly.

We post all comments unless it meets the following exclusion criteria:

  • Contains protected health information and other confidential data that may risk patient privacy
  • Contains obscenities or other inappropriate details
  • Contains libelous language
  • Contains inappropriate reference to other providers
  • Contains information that does not pertain to patient care

Am I able to request a patient satisfaction survey?

Unfortunately, you can not request a patient satisfaction survey, as the selection process is done randomly.
