About Me
Biographical Statement
Dr. Rao obtained his medical degree from Osmania University in India. He completed an internal medicine residency at Booth Memorial Hospital in New York and then joined Henry Ford Hospital as fellow in endocrinology. He has been section head of the bone and mineral division and program director for the endocrinology fellowship program. He has contributed extensively to the field of bone and mineral disorders.
He has authored or co-authored over 300 peer reviewed original papers, abstracts and book chapters. He is on the editorial board of several prestigious journals and has served on several guideline committees and position papers. Dr. Rao is an avid traveler. He spends a lot of his leisure time with his family and grandchildren. He loves to play tennis and he follows the Detroit Tigers faithfully.

I have been seeing Dr.Rao for about 15 years for a metablolism issue. He has advisedd me regarding bone building medicine, hormones, and has tracked my bone loss through bone density tests. Dr. Rao is knowledgeable, intelligent, kind and I trust his advice. I Would recommend him to anyone needing an endocronologist.

This was my first visit to Dr. Rao to discuss osteoporosis & new medication. I could tell he was listening to me carefully and addressing my concerns as we went along. I liked him and have confidence in his experience and with the treatment he recommended to treat my condition. There was a medical student in the room and Dr explained information to the student, so I learned even more.

This is only the second time I've seen Dr. Rao. The first experience was so positive, I didn't hesitate to return. Dr. Rao takes a personal interest in your well-being.
