T Sean S Lynch, MD

Biographical Statement

T. Sean Lynch, MD, is a senior staff surgeon and the Vice Chairman of Academic Affairs for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Henry Ford Health. He was previously an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, and the Director of the Center for Athletic Hip Injuries and Hip Preservation. He specializes in the nonoperative and operative treatment of hip and knee disorders in athletes of all levels and is an expert in hip surgery and knee ligament reconstruction with minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques.

Dr. Lynch is currently the Head Team Physician for the Detroit Lions. He is also a past competitive ice hockey player and a Team Physician for USA Hockey. Dr. Lynch was previously a Team Physician with the New York Yankees, New York City Football Club (Major League Soccer) and Fordham University. 

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, he received a B.S. in Biology and his medical degree from Georgetown University. He was a resident in Orthopedic Surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago. He completed his Orthopedic Sports Medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic where he received the prestigious Herodicus Society North American Traveling Fellowship to one of the top Sports Medicine fellows his graduating year. This award allowed him to work with hip arthroscopists and knee ACL and articular cartilage specialists across the United States.

Dr. Lynch has won numerous research and education awards and lectures nationally and internationally on sports hip and knee injuries. He is committed to providing the highest quality medical care and seeks the best clinical outcomes for his patients. He prides himself on his bedside manner and his goal is for you to have a better understanding of your injury as well as possible treatment options at the end of your visit.
