Henry Ford Macomb Hospital (HFMH) nurses approach patient care with a spirit of inquiry. It’s an approach where nurses are continuously evaluating care practices and questioning how care can be improved for optimal patient outcomes. The Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Council and Nurse Residency Program are available for nurses focused on improving care of patients and nurses.

The Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Council is led by Masters and Doctorate prepared nurses. The council meets monthly to discuss and provide support for clinical nursing research efforts. In addition, the council tracks projects within the business unit, is available to review and support student and employee projects, facilitate and collaborate in partnerships to encourage engagement in nursing research, conduct investigator-initiated research, disseminates research outcomes through local and national poster and podium presentations, publications in scholarly journals.

Macomb has access to the HFH Center for Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice which has developed research and e-toolkits available for reference. The System’s Sladen Library offers many resources and support services for proposal development and manuscript writing as well as research department data abstractors, biostatisticians and other support services are located.

These resources are available at HFMH to assist both new and experienced nurses with the research process, to help them pursue their research interests, develop professionally and add to the science of nursing. Evidence-Based care is important at HFMH, and support is available for nurses as they work towards meeting professional research goals and improving patient outcomes.
