Caring Science is our nursing philosophy and the foundation for our nursing care model at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. The lotus flower is our caring science signature. Each petal represents elements of our Shared Governance Council and professional nurse practice environment.

Process & Councils

The Nursing Shared Governance Executive Council oversees the SG structure and councils.

Peer Review reviews quality and appropriateness of nursing care provided to patients.

The Nursing Professional Practice Council (formerly know as nurse practice council) implements and maintains standards of clinical nursing practice and patient care consistent with evidence-based practice and requirements of regulatory agencies.

Quality and Safety reviews appropriateness and effectiveness of the care provided by the nursing staff while assessing and ensuring compliance with established standards of care and practice.

Rewards and Recognition recognizes and appreciates the nursing staff whose commitment to caring is demonstrated by exemplary nursing practice that results in improved healthcare outcomes of patients.

The Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Council facilitates new research and advances the professional practice of Henry Ford Macomb Hospital nurses.

The Nursing Professional Development Council (formerly known as education council) collaborates and creates education based on the needs of nursing.

The Unit Council identifies issues related to nursing practice/patient care and develops a plan to improve outcomes at the unit level.
