Rotations in Radiation Oncology
Residents are assigned to one or two of our senior staff clinicians for two to three month clinical rotations allowing for continuity of care in the consultation, simulation, treatment planning, on treatment management and follow-up of our patients.
In addition to our clinic, residents participate in the following HFC multidisciplinary tumor boards:
- Breast
- Central Nervous System
- Gastrointestinal (GI)
- Pancreas
- Colorectal
- Liver
- Genitourinary
- Gynecology
- Head and Neck
- Lung
- Malignant Hematology
- Molecular
- Musculoskeletal
- Pain/Palliative Management
- Spine
- Skin
The follow multidisciplinary clinics are attended by residents as well:
- Breast
- Head and Neck
- Pancreas
Electives are added as the resident progresses through the program, in order to provide additional education in Medical Oncology, Radiology, Medical Physics and Community Radiation Oncology. The Pediatric Radiation Oncology rotation is a mandatory away rotation.
Residents will be exposed to a multitude of procedures which include:
- Extracranial Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (RT)
- High Dose Rate (HDR) Endobronchial Brachytherapy
- Intracranial Stereotactic Radiosurgery
- HDR Gynecological Brachytherapy
- HDR Prostate Brachytherapy
- MRI Guided Radiation Therapy (RT)/Adaptive RT
- Total Body Irradiation
- Total Lymphoid Irradiation
- Total Skin Irradiation
