Application Information

The internship site agrees to abide by the APPIC policy that no one at the site will solicit, accept or use any ranking-related information from any applicant prior to Match Day. If we will not consider you for an interview, we will notify you as soon as possible after we have made that decision. If we rank you for the Match, we will not give you information as to your place on the match list. We use the electronic application process and application that can be found on the APPIC website.

You must indicate a track for which you are applying; please do so in the first sentence of your cover letter. Please underline or otherwise make that choice clear. You may apply for more than one track and we will consider you for each track you indicate. We will consider your preparation for the track(s) for which you apply. We will submit five(5) rank lists for Match Day:

  • Adult Neuropsychology
  • Pediatric Neuropsychology
  • Health Psychology/Consultation-Liaison
  • Health Care Systems Research & Practice
  • Behavioral Sleep/Circadian Medicine & Research

You should have completed all pre-doctoral coursework and practica before internship. We do not require that you have completed your dissertation but do prefer individuals who have proposed their dissertations. Neuropsychology applicants should have completed a full neuropsychology practicum as a pre-requisite for those tracks.

We will accept applications on a rolling basis but will not accept applications after November 5. The faculty reviews applications as they are accepted. Final decisions regarding interviews will be made on or before December 15. We prefer in-person interviews so that you can have a real experience of what the internship will be like and what we have to offer. These are up to a full day and involve individual interviews, group interviews, and time with current interns. Each track has dedicated interview days with possible interview dates in December and January.

Interns must be in good standing with their doctoral programs and remain in good standing throughout the internship. Interns must be able to communicate directly in spoken and written English. Because the patient population is diverse, individuals who speak a language in addition to English or are members of underrepresented minorities are strongly invited to apply. If matched and eligible for a Michigan limited license, we require that you apply for that license. We will reimburse the cost of the license if you obtain it as part of the match process. If you are a foreign national, please discuss that with us at the time of interview so that we can assist you in the visa process.

Henry Ford Health will not hire anyone who uses nicotine or drugs. We will screen for nicotine and drug use prior to the start of the internship. We also require fingerprinting and a background check prior to the start of the internship.

We use the electronic application process provided by APPIC and will accept applications only via that process. We ask for 3 letters of recommendation and do not require supplementary materials. If you have further questions, please contact the director.
