The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at Henry Ford Hospital is an ACGME accredited one year advanced fellowship training program available to those who have completed training in general cardiology. The program consists of eight full time interventional cardiologists and is approved for three interventional fellows per year. Interventional fellows receive training in a wide range of procedures including: complex coronary interventions, peripheral vascular interventions, myocardial biopsy performance, structural heart procedures (PFO/ASD/VSD closure, alcohol septal ablation, percutaneous aortic and mitral valvuloplasty, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, percutaneous left atrial appendage closure, percutaneous repair for mitral regurgitation, balloon atrial septostomy, and percutaneous paravalvular leak closure), and hemodynamic support interventions. Procedural volumes are robust as the Henry Ford Medical System consists of a large number of hospitals and clinics in Southern Michigan who refer their procedures to the main campus where the interventional fellowship is located. Interventional fellows are also involved with ongoing research projects and assist in the education of general cardiology fellows.
