This program supports pregnant patients who have diabetes or have developed gestational diabetes. A diabetes care specialist conducts education sessions at various locations. Topics include glucose monitoring, risks related to gestational diabetes, nutrition management and what to expect after pregnancy.

The Women-Inspired Neighborhood (WIN) Network: Detroit is a program of the Detroit Regional Infant Mortality Reduction Task Force.

WIN Network: Detroit provides Henry Ford Health patients with an enhanced model of group prenatal care where Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Certified Nurse Midwives provide your care together. Your Certified Nurse Midwife cares for your clinical needs and makes sure you and your baby are healthy. Your Community Health Workers helps with any social needs you have, provides social support, and provides 1-on-1 support outside of appointments.

What is enhanced group prenatal care?

Group Prenatal Care joins 8-12 pregnant moms who are due to deliver around the same time together for group sessions where you have private time with your provider and time with the group to learn about pregnancy, birth, newborn care, and local resources.

What are the perks of enhanced group prenatal care?

• Traditional prenatal care only allows for 10-15 minute appointments. You get 2 hours with your care team each session.
• Support for social needs like food, transportation, baby supplies, housing, and more.
• Opportunity for birth accompaniment, such as a doula.
• One-on-one support from your Community Health Worker until your baby turns one.
• Guest speakers from local organizations like WIC, Detroit Health Department, and more to tell you about resources available to your family.
• Your support person is welcome to attend GPC to learn alongside you.
• Meet pregnant moms due around the same time as you.
• No wait time for appointments.
