Types of uterine (endometrial) cancer treatment

We offer innovative techniques and treatment options for uterine cancer, including fertility preservation, tailored to your diagnosis.

Advanced minimally invasive surgery

Surgical removal of the uterus is the most common treatment for uterine cancer. Whenever possible, our surgeons perform minimally invasive surgery, which provides the same benefits and leads to faster recovery and less discomfort. Some minimally invasive options include:

• Robotic hysterectomy, one of the most effective and least invasive types of hysterectomy.
• Laparoscopic hysterectomy, which involves creating small incisions in the navel or abdomen.
• Laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy, which is done by making small incisions in the abdominal area.

Leaders in radiation therapy

Using the most advanced technology, we are able to more effectively deliver radiation therapy to our uterine cancer patients. Radiation treatment options for uterine cancer include MRI-guided radiation (for select patients), external beam radiation therapy and internal radiation, called intracavitary brachytherapy.

Hormone therapy

To fight some forms of uterine cancer, hormone therapy may be used. Some hormone therapy drugs may slow or stop the ovaries from producing estrogen. The hormone estrogen stimulates the growth of cancer cells. Other drugs are designed to stop any estrogen in the body from stimulating the growth of cancer cells. Different drugs may be given to block other hormones so they cannot turn into estrogen.

Clinical trials

Medical research, known as clinical trials, is constantly being done to find better ways of treating cancer. If you are newly diagnosed with uterine or endometrial cancer, a clinical trial may be available for you.
