This year’s theme, Beyond Cancer: Honoring the Journey, Embracing the Future, celebrates your strength, resilience, and continued path toward wellness. Whether you're currently in treatment, newly in remission, undergoing follow- up care, or navigating life after cancer, you are part of a powerful and inspiring community.
Throughout the month of celebration, we invite you to join us for a wide variety of events across our health system designed to uplift, connect, and empower survivors. From wellness workshops and guest speaker events to social gatherings and mindful movement sessions, every program is thoughtfully crafted with you in mind.
Cancer Survivorship Month Events

Cancer Survivor Day Carnival
- Monday June 2nd, 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
- Henry Ford Cancer - Genesys Hospital, 1 Genesys Pkwy Grand Blanc, MI 48439
- Henry Ford Cancer and Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute patients, post-treatment survivors, their families and cancer staff are invited to a special carnival featuring food vendors, carnival games, and festivities.

Discover the Healing Power of Reflexology Webinar
- June 4, 2025, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
- Virtual
- Join us for an engaging virtual presentation to explore the ancient art of reflexology that balances mind, body and spirit, promoting overall well-being. Reflex areas in the feet and hands correspond to the glands, organs and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes properly can help many health problems in a natural way that compliments traditional medical treatment. This presentation is interactive and includes hand charts for you to use as you follow the instructor’s presentation.
- About the presenter: Cheryl Beshada is Certified in Reflexology through the International Institute of Reflexology. She has been employed at the VanElslander Cancer Center, Valade Healing Art's Center at Henry Ford St. John Hospital since 2004. She continues to serve there as a Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM) Therapist where she offers Medical Hypnosis, Energy Work and Reflexology Sessions. Her position as a Reflexologist includes providing Foot Reflexology to patients at the Infusion Center as they receive their chemotherapy treatments. Cheryl has provided services for Universal Hospice and has served as a volunteer instructor for the South-East Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross. She has also served as volunteer and guest speaker for Gilda’s Club doing Reiki and Foot Reflexology.

Cancer Survivorship: Achieving Improved Health to Reduce the Risk of Recurrence
- Thursdays, June 5 - July 3, 2025, 11:00am-12:00pm
- Virtual
- This 5-week education session open to post-active treatment cancer survivors and their caregivers features the most up to date science and research about how to improve your health and reduce your risk for cancer recurrence. Each week will feature one of 5 topics: survivorship care plans, healthy nutrition, staying active, mindfulness, and monitoring your labs.
- About the presenter: Dr. Carmen Stokes, PhD, FNP-BC, CNE is the coordinator of the Henry Ford SM Gavini Center for Cancer Prevention, where she leads initiatives focused on preventing cancer and reducing the risk of recurrence. With over 31 years of experience in healthcare, Dr. Stokes is committed to empowering patients and making cancer prevention information accessible, engaging, and impactful. Prior to her current position, she served as an associate professor for 20 years, demonstrating a strong commitment to education and clinical excellence. Dr. Stokes is an active leader in the field of cancer navigation and prevention. She serves on the Steering Committee of the National Navigators Roundtable (NNRT), is an ambassador for the American Cancer Society’s VOICES research study, and holds board positions with the Michigan Cancer Consortium (MCC) and Operation Breast Density.
