Maternal Serum Screening Program
The Maternal Serum Screening Program at Henry Ford Hospital, within the Division of Medical Genetics and Department of Women’s Health, offers a complete menu of maternal serum screening options. Maternal serum screening has evolved as a non-invasive method of evaluating pregnancies to identify those at a higher risk. Henry Ford was one of the first genetics laboratories in the country to offer the MSAFP-Quad test and subsequently the Maternal Serum Integrated tests. These blood tests provide an ever-increasing detection rate for pregnancies with Down syndrome, Trisomy 18, or certain birth defects such as open Neural Tube Defects (such as Spina Bifida).
The laboratory serves Henry Ford Health and its affiliates and also accepts specimens for testing from non-HFH health care providers.
