About Me

Biographical Statement

Dr. Swary grew up in Pandora, Ohio, playing all of the sports available in a small-town. He then went on to Ohio Wesleyan University for his undergraduate studies where he majored in Neuroscience and Psychology and was a member of the football team.

Following his graduation, Dr. Swary attended the University of Denver and received his master’s in Sport and Performance Psychology. Dr. Swary then received his PhD in Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology, and his MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from West Virginia University. Prior to joining Henry Ford Health in 2023, he served as the Coordinator of Sport & Performance Psychology for Oakland University for 2 years.  

Dr. Swary is passionate about supporting the mental health and performance of athletes of all ages. He is licensed as a professional counselor in the state of Michigan, a Certified Mental Performance Consultant, and a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
