Biographical Statement

Dr. Scott A. Dulchavsky is a board-certified surgeon, physician-scientist and healthcare innovator who serves as CEO of the Henry Ford Innovation Institute, Roy D. McClure Chairman of Surgery, Surgeon-in-Chief at Henry Ford Hospital and professor of surgery, molecular biology and genetics at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Internationally recognized for his work in surgical innovation, critical care and space medicine, Dr. Dulchavsky has dedicated his career to advancing new technologies that improve patient care and clinical outcomes.

Dr. Dulchavsky earned his bachelor's degree in physiology from Michigan State University, a doctorate in molecular biology and genetics from Wayne State University and his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his surgical residency at Wayne State University and a fellowship in surgical critical care at the Detroit Medical Center. Prior to joining Henry Ford Health, he served as a professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine, attending surgeon at the Detroit Medical Center, director of surgical intensive care and chief of surgery at Detroit Receiving Hospital.

A principal investigator for NASA, Dr. Dulchavsky has led pioneering research focused on medical technologies for use in extreme and remote environments, including spaceflight. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has been elected to several prestigious professional organizations, including the Society of University Surgeons, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Society of Clinical Surgery and the American Surgical Association. He also maintains an active leadership role within the American College of Surgeons, serving on the Committee on Trauma and as vice chair for Technology and Research.

Throughout his career, Dr. Dulchavsky has focused on translating scientific discovery into practical solutions that enhance surgical care, improve patient safety and expand access to advanced medical technologies.
