Rushil R Dang, DMD, MS

Biographical Statement

Dr. Dang practices head and neck surgery within the scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Henry Ford Hospital, with an emphasis on head and neck cancer, salivary gland cancer, pre-malignant disease, management of maxillofacial cysts/tumors and microvascular reconstruction of the head and neck region. Dr. Dang is an active member of the multidisciplinary head and neck tumor board team at HFH. In addition to these interests, Dr. Dang also practices full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery including facial trauma, facial reconstruction, complex bone grafting, dental implants and jaw in a day reconstruction.

Dr. Dang was born and raised in India. He attended the renowned Manipal university for undergraduate education. He then moved to Boston University to pursue his DMD. Continuing his training in Boston, he completed a research fellowship with plastic and oral surgery department at Boston Children’s Hospital. He then moved on to complete a surgical residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Boston University and associated hospitals. Following the completion of his residency, he pursued a two-year fellowship in maxillofacial oncology/head and neck cancer and reconstructive surgery at Boston Medical Center. Subsequently, Dr. Dang trained in microvascular reconstruction of the head and neck region at the prestigious Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. Prior to his return to Henry Ford Hospital, he has spent additional time at high volume cancers centers in India and Germany. Dr. Dang is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABOMS).

In addition to Dr. Dang’s busy clinical practice, he is dedicated to innovation and improvement of his field through research and education. Dr. Dang is the author of several peer reviewed publications and has contributed to multiple book chapters. His research focus involves head and neck cancer, oral reconstruction, artificial intelligence and facial trauma.
