About Me
Biographical Statement:
Dr. Brawner is a clinical exercise physiologist at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit where he is senior staff within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. Over the past 25+ years he has worked in cardiac rehabilitation, non-invasive & invasive exercise testing, and clinical research. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Ball State University, a master’s degree in exercise science from Oakland University, and a doctoral degree in public health and epidemiology from Walden University. He is a past president of the Clinical Exercise Physiology Association.
Dr. Brawner has served as an author or coauthor on 97 PubMed-indexed manuscripts and 140 professional abstract presentations. He has also contributed to several text books, including the 10th edition of ACSM’s Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription. His research focuses on exercise testing & training among patients with heart disease, fitness and outcomes, cardiopulmonary exercise testing in clinical trials, and cardiac rehabilitation program outcomes.
