Teamsters Local 332 nurses ratify Henry Ford Genesys Hospital contract offer
- Teamsters Local 332 nurses ratified Henry Ford Genesys Hospital’s contract offer.
- The offer includes a 13% wage increase, premium pay, staffing ratios and seniority rights.
- The Genesee County hospital and union will negotiate return-to-work terms for striking nurses.
GRAND BLANC, Mich. — Nurses represented by Teamsters Local 332 voted overwhelmingly this week to ratify Henry Ford Genesys Hospital’s last, best contract offer.
The vote in favor of the contract ends the Teamsters’ strike, which began more than a year ago. Next, representatives for the hospital and union will meet to negotiate terms of striking members’ return to work.
“We’re thrilled at the prospect of welcoming our valued team members back to work and look forward to working side by side with them to provide the high-quality care and service our communities count on,” said Henry Ford Genesys Hospital Interim President Gwen Sandefur.
The contract
The contract is consistent with the employment terms the hospital has implemented for nurses over the past year and reflects Henry Ford Health’s commitment to nurses across the health system. The contract:
- Raises below-market wages in the union’s contract with previous hospital operators by 13%.
- Implements new weekend, critical and off-shift pay rates to help ensure additional staff are available when needed.
- Maintains the nurse-to-patient staffing ratios included in previous Teamsters Local 332 contracts.
- Guarantees seniority rights for every striking union member.
The contract reflects Henry Ford Health’s systemwide staffing model.
Since the Teamsters went on strike Sept. 1, 2025, the hospital has begun implementing elements of the staffing model, including:
- A shared governance council that gives frontline nurses a stronger voice in decisions affecting patient care, nursing practice, quality, safety and the work environment.
- Hospital-based staffing committees made up of bedside nurses and nurse leaders who directly inform staffing practices.
- Self-scheduling that empowers nurses to work together to create schedules that support patient care and team needs.
- Expanded use of the health system’s internal staffing pool to provide additional support for the Henry Ford Genesys Hospital team.
Hundreds of Henry Ford Genesys Hospital team members — including 350 nurses who worked through the strike or joined the nursing team after it began — remain focused on providing high-quality care as their union colleagues prepare to return.
