Special visitor guidelines for these areas
Emergency department: Due to limited space and safety concerns, one visitor is allowed in curtained rooms and two visitors are allowed in hard-walled rooms. A visitor may switch with another visitor. Patients placed temporarily in hallways may not have visitors, unless the care team determines a unique need, such as a language barrier or a confused patient. Emergency department exceptions are made for the parent/guardian of a minor, a support person for a laboring mother and patients at the end of life. If a parent/guardian comes to the Emergency department for their own care and brings their children under age 18 because they were unable to find childcare, the patient will be seen.
Surgical care: Two visitors on the day of surgery.
Inpatient surgeries: Two visitors. Only one visitor may accompany the patient in the pre-op and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU)/recovery areas.
Pediatric surgical patients: Two parents or legal guardians.
Obstetrics, labor & delivery, family-centered maternity care, and mother-baby units, including NICUs and special care nurseries: Learn more about visiting mother and baby units.
Pediatrics unit: Two parents or guardians. Siblings accompanied by an adult may be allowed to visit; parents should confirm current sibling guidelines with the patient’s care team.
COVID-positive patients in any area: COVID-19 positive patients (or patients awaiting COVID test results) are permitted one visitor per day. Visitors will be asked to wear protective equipment (mask, face shield, gown and gloves). The visitor should remain in the patient’s room for the duration of the visit. Talk to your patient’s care team for details.
Our visitor policy is subject to change. The most recent changes may not be reflected on this website. Please follow the guidelines provided by our team members at the Main Lobby and Emergency entrances.
