Amy Engelhardt, DO, MBA, FHM, FACOI, is the associate chief medical officer for Henry Ford Hospital (HFH). She is responsible for providing physician leadership at HFH and facilitates medical staff interactions with administration/management, nursing, hospital-based services and governance to assure reliable, effective and efficient delivery of medical care.

Most recently, Dr. Engelhardt served as the medical director of Utilization Management and the medical director of Observation for HFH. In these roles, she oversaw a 35-bed unit and helped to develop the observation curriculum for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Engelhardt’s clinical interests involve clinical operations, quality improvement and population health. She leads a number of Henry Ford Health and HFH-based committees serving as chairperson, including the Henry Ford Health and HFH Utilization Committees, HFH GPU Council and HFH Length of Stay Committee. She also serves on the following groups, including Henry Ford Health Clinical Effectiveness Council, Henry Ford Health System GPU Council, Henry Ford Health Antimicrobial Stewardship Subcommittee, HFH Medication Safety Quality Council, and HFH Sentinel Event Review Committee.

In September 2020, Dr. Engelhardt was appointed to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Certificate of Need Commission and will serve a three-year term.

She graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of Des Moines University and completed a dually accredited internship through Henry Ford Hospital before completing her Internal Medicine Residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. In April 2020, she obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Ross School of Business at The University of Michigan.
