Primary Health Research Training Program (PHRTP): Discovery Through Diversity

The Primary Health Research Training Program (PHRTP) provides multiple research skill-building opportunities for post-doctoral students and for physicians-in-training. PHRTP Scholars will develop improved research and analytic thinking skills, receive coaching on written and oral scientific presentations, and gain an in-depth knowledge of epidemiology and public health. The successful candidate is supported for a period of two years. The components of the program include the Program Advisory Committee chaired by the Director of HDRC, a Selection Subcommittee who will review candidate applications, and an Assigned Mentor who will work closely with the Awardee to help him/her achieve their goals. The Program Advisory Committee, the Assigned Mentor, and the HDRC Director are all committed to helping the successful candidate accomplish the objectives of the approved research plan.

The program uses the basic structure of the Mentored Scientist Award which is in practice here at HFHS. The program typically covers 60% of the awarded Scholar’s effort. Please note that this is not a fully remote position and Scholars are expected to be onsite at HFH at least 60% of their time covered by PHRTP.
