Resident Benefits

Residents receive a yearly education stipend to cover the cost of educational materials, which could include textbooks, loupes, courses, or program conferences. PGY 1-3 years receive $1000 annually, and PGY 4-5 receive $1650 annually. This money is distributed at the beginning of the academic year and may be used at the residents discretion. There are additional funds that may be available to cover attendance at educational conferences if you have been selected to present.

Residents have access to low-cost health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, reproductive health services resources, HSA/FSA, 401(k) retirement options, life/ADD insurance options, discount programs, legal service access, and much more.

Residents are given access to resources for studying including SCORE curriculum annual subscription, ABSITEQuest, AccessSurgery, UptoDate, textbooks, and more through our Sladen Library.
Residents receive an annual food stipend in the amount of $1000. This can be used at Henry Ford Warren Hospital or Madison Heights Hospital in the cafeteria and coffee shops.

Parking is free at Henry Ford Warren and Madison Heights campuses.

Henry Ford offers a competitive salary and benefits. Funding support is also available to cover fees associated with registration for STEP 3/COMLEX Level 3, FES/FLS, ATLS, ACLS, BLS, and PALS. Reimbursement is also offered for state licensing fees.

Residents were allotted 30 days pooled PTO for AY 2025-2026, 22 weekday and 8 weekend. These days include vacation, sick days, and holidays. Residents are also given additional days off for taking required examinations (e.g., STEP/COMLEX).

Resident Wellness

Resident wellness and camaraderie are top priorities at our program. We have enjoyed many program-sponsored formal wellness events including paintball, riverboat day, sporting events, escape room, and cider mills, to name a few.
