Research in Neuro-Critical Care

  • Fellows are required to conduct their own research project(s), will be mentored and will have protected time for it. They are strongly encouraged to publish papers and present abstracts at national conferences such as AAN, NCS, SCCM or ISC.
  • Fellows are expected to present their research project to the division at the end of their fellowship
  • The HFH Neuroscience Institute harbors translational research work that is nationally recognized:
    • Dr. Michael Chopp’s lab received the first NIH Project Grant Award in the U.S. for its work in bone marrow stromal cell transplant in stroke and TBI/TSI
    • Dr. Chopp’s lab is also a pioneer in promising stem-cell derived exosomes and microRNAs for stroke therapy
  • Several multicenter trials are ongoing: CHARM, BOOST III, ARCADIA, PISCES III, SleepSMART, OPHELIA, ARAMIS
  • Pending activation- ENDOLOW, SEGA, TIMELESS, MOST, ASPIRE
  • We were also an active site for past trials such as MISTIE III, CLEAR III, INTREPID, MARINUS, SETPOINT 2, PROTECT, ICE, CLASH, ACCELERATE
