Multidisciplinary Breast Fellowship Program

Program Director: Jessica M. Bensenhaver, M.D., MS, FACS

The mission of Henry Ford Cancer Multidisciplinary Breast Fellowship Program is to provide a leading-edge educational experience for the dedicated breast specialists of tomorrow in an environment that is a destination for precision medicine, clinical trials, research and enhanced support services for cancer patients.

Our team is comprised of a network of specialized individuals working together in a wide range of clinical and research departments to provide comprehensive and personalized care across the continuum of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care.

We use a multidisciplinary approach to ensure that our fellows participate in, and oversee, the care of patients with both benign and malignant diseases of the breast.

Our Fellowship Program provides highly specialized training in all aspects of Breast Oncology, including:

  • Surgery
  • Radiation oncology
  • Medical oncology
  • Pathology
  • Genetics
  • Breast imaging
  • GYN fertility preservation
  • Plastic/reconstruction surgery

Clinical Rotations

The breast fellow will be integrated into our clinic/conference program routine. The fellow will have calendar hospital-based multidisciplinary programs to attend to ensure that the fellow’s activities include surgical experiences, clinic participation, and their multidisciplinary dedicated clinic rotations.

Clinical rotations will be scheduled at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.

Community Outreach

Our Breast Oncology Program also infuses our strong partnership with community-based and advocacy organizations, such as the Sisters Network Inc. (a national organization of African American breast cancer patients) and the American Cancer Society (which is actively integrated with our multidisciplinary clinic/conference program via Reach for Recovery volunteers).

Additionally, we have a robust relationships with several churches and Ethnic-based community organizations. The Henry Ford Breast Fellow will be involved with activities hosted by these organizations.
