Why Henry Ford EM? I chose Henry Ford Emergency Medicine because it offers the rigorous, high-acuity training I wanted and is committed to serving a diverse patient population as a safety-net hospital. During my fourth-year audition rotation, I saw how complex the cases were and was impressed by how confidently the third-year residents handled them. This showed me the strength of the program’s training. Henry Ford is also personally meaningful to me because my mother trained here 30 years ago. Throughout my life, I have seen what an exceptional physician she is. Knowing how much Henry Ford shaped her, along with my own experience rotating here, made it clear that this is the right place for my Emergency Medicine training.

I also wanted the opportunity to try a new city, and Detroit felt exciting while still letting me come back home to the Midwest for training. On top of that, I loved the close-knit culture of the program, and it felt like a place where I would be genuinely supported and challenged to grow.

Why Henry Ford EM? I was really drawn to Henry Ford’s EM/IM program because of its reputation for training exceptional physicians and its strong commitment to serving diverse patient populations. What especially excites me is the combined EM/IM pathway—it’s the perfect fit for my interests. I’ve always been fascinated by how interconnected Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine are, and I love the idea of being able to care for patients across the full spectrum of illness. From stabilizing an acutely ill patient in the Emergency Department to managing complex cases on the inpatient floors and in the ICU, I get the opportunity to provide very comprehensive care.
