About the Program
The Family Medicine Program at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital has been training Family Medicine physicians since 1971. We are an ACGME accredited program with 39 residents. Our program aims to provide comprehensive training in both outpatient and inpatient medicine to provide a well rounded education that allows you to limitless opportunities once you graduate. We are affiliated with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Training at our residency clinic, the Family Health Center in Burton, includes pediatric and adult medicine, women’s health, gynecological and dermatological procedures, prenatal care and osteopathic manipulative medicine. We also have an integrative clinical health psychology program, which provides services for patients and conducts the Behavioral Health educational curriculum for the residents.
On the inpatient side of medicine, we have our own Family Medicine Service, which is run by the FM core faculty. During inpatient medicine months, our residents follow both clinic and staff patients, as senior residents facilitate functioning of the team. Our well balanced program provides you with adequate elective time to tailor your rotational needs to your future plans. We offer structured, protected didactic time with lectures from specialists as well as your core faculty. These include EKG reading, radiology, case studies, journal presentations, and board review. We also provide our residents with workshops run by faculty, where we do OMT, skin procedures, and gyn procedures. We take our resident feedback seriously and work hard to make positive change and improvement to our program every year!
