Consulting Services

The Department's senior staff pathologists provide consultation across the country in many areas of diagnostic expertise, including second opinions on previously processed difficult glass slide cases as well as primary diagnostic services on tissues submitted that require special processing and techniques.

Our staff can consult on light, fluorescence and immunohistochemical staining and electron microscopy of kidney, muscle, nerve and skin biopsies. Also offered are services for Her2 oncogene, estrogen and progesterone hormone receptor assays in fixed tissues as well as a wide range of ancillary diagnostic and microbial immunohistochemical stains.

How to request

Send specimens with demographic, pertinent clinical, radiographic and billing information to the address below. Please include your contact phone, fax and e-mail addresses to facilitate rapid communication.

Analytic time

24-48 hours for slides, 48-72 hours for tissues requiring processing.

Results reporting

Faxed to requesting physician followed by hard copy.

Billing

Billing is the responsibility of the requesting institution, unless the patient is being seen by a Henry Ford Hospital physician.
