At a pivotal time for healthcare in Michigan and beyond, Bob Riney is leading Henry Ford Health through one of the most significant periods of growth and transformation in its 110-year history.

Bob is President and CEO of Henry Ford Health, a premier healthcare services company dedicated to helping people live their best lives. Henry Ford Health comprises more than 50,000 team members across over 550 sites of care, surrounding patients, members, and customers with everything they need from primary, preventive, and urgent care to the most complex and specialty care, retail needs including pharmacy and eye care, a full suite of home health and virtual care services, and health insurance coverage through Health Alliance Plan (HAP) of Michigan, which serves more than 470,000 covered lives across multiple markets.

A lifelong Detroiter and proud Wayne State University graduate, Bob began his career at Henry Ford Health in 1978. With nearly five decades of service, he brings a deep understanding of healthcare operations, organizational culture, and community impact – shaped by experience at every level of the organization.

Since becoming CEO in 2022, Bob has led several of Henry Ford Health’s most ambitious initiatives, including the landmark joint venture with Ascension Michigan.

Bob’s leadership is also key to Destination: Grand, the once-in-a-generation transformation of Henry Ford Health’s flagship campus in Detroit. The project includes a new 20-story hospital tower with all private rooms, a dramatically expanded Emergency Department, 28 operating rooms, and a state-of-the-art Central Energy Hub, positioning the campus as a national model for modern, sustainable healthcare while reinforcing Henry Ford Health’s commitment to Detroit.

Under Bob’s leadership, Henry Ford Health continues to advance as a leading academic and research institution, consistently ranking among the top five National Institutes of Health-funded institutions in Michigan. The organization is also at the forefront of digital transformation, implementing a fully integrated electronic medical record and leveraging data, advanced technology and strategic partnerships to improve care delivery, access and outcomes.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Bob served in several senior leadership roles, including President of Healthcare Operations and Chief Operating Officer. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his steady leadership, operational expertise, and people-first approach.

He also hosts The BOBcast, a podcast available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube, which features conversations with leaders who are shaping the future of Detroit and the region.

Beyond Henry Ford Health, Bob is deeply engaged in civic and philanthropic leadership across the region and is widely sought out for his perspective on healthcare, economic development, and Detroit’s future. He holds several board positions and community roles, including: Trustee, Alfred I. duPont Charitable Trust; Vice Chair, Detroit Zoological Society; Board Member, The Parade Company; Board Member, Hudson-Webber Foundation; Board Member, Caymich Insurance Company; Chair Elect, Detroit Regional Chamber; Board Member, Business Leaders for Michigan; Board Member, Downtown Detroit Partnership; Board Chair, Detroit Regional Partnership; Board Member, The Detroit Economic Club (DEC); and Board Member, Motown Museum.
