Student Career Exploration Program

We are excited to announce Henry Ford Jackson Hospital’s new Student Career Exploration Program! This observation opportunity provides high school students currently in grades 9th-12th, and college students who are not currently accepted into or enrolled in a program requiring a clinical rotation, an opportunity to explore health care related careers, learn from our team of diverse professionals, and gain a better understanding of healthcare as a whole. This experience and exposure will allow students to gain insight related to their future education and career pathway.

The Student Career Exploration Program will take place at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, One Jackson Square, or one of our other clinical locations. There are multiple sessions offered during the calendar year. These sessions are one weeklong, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm. Due to limited leadership presence sessions will not be offered outside of standard business hours, on weekends, on holidays or during the week of major holidays. Students are required to wear business casual attire. Scrubs are not permitted.

Within this application students are requested to identify a maximum of four (4) Henry Ford Jackson Hospital departments they wish to observe. During the weeklong session, students will have the opportunity to observe a career within that department for a couple hours. The student’s observation schedule during the session week will be dependent on the selected HFJH department, the departments standard hours of operation, the departments availability, and the student’s availability. Please note participating departments may vary per session.

Once you have completed the below application, please email your completed application to Cierra Sylvester via email, by the designated due date which can be found on the Henry Ford Jackson Hospital Workforce Development web page. Applications will not be accepted past the designated due date. Students who miss the due date will have to wait and reapply for the next available session.

Once your application is received you will receive a confirmation email informing you of the next steps in the phone interview process.
