I came to this country about 12 years ago with the idea of becoming an Anesthesiologist. My journey started in Miami, where I had the opportunity to work as a research coordinator for the department of Anesthesiology at University of Miami. Our budget for the projects was limited, and I have to learn how to become resourceful to complete the projects. For example, I designed a simple ramp to facilitate the intubations for the rats that needed to be under anesthesia for procedures related to our research. I also modified a vitals monitor for humans to be able to track the vitals on the animals while they were under anesthesia.
After my time in Miami, I matched in an anesthesiology residency here at Henry Ford Hospital where I fell in love with the area, and the way that the hospital works in general. I had the opportunity of doing my critical care fellowship at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, over there I was able to meet great entrepreneurs that worked together with the University of Harvard in the development of medical field products. I decided to come back to Henry Ford after my training, and I have been working actively in different projects with point of care ultrasound for the residents, I am also working in a modification of an airway device with the innovation institute.
