Auditioning Visiting Students

This application is for students interested in rotating at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital to audition for a residency program. Audition applications will start being accepted on February 10, 2025 at 12:00 am. Please complete this application if your school does not participate with VSLO. If your school participates with VSLO you must apply for an audition rotation using VSLO unless you are a student from one of our Primary Academic Partners MSUCOM, KCOM and CMU. These students may use the website to apply starting February 3, 2025 or starting February 10, 2025 they can use VSLO or the website to apply. If you apply prior to the opening date for applications to be received, your application will not be considered and you will not be notified.

Once your application is received, you will be contacted as soon as possible based on the volume of applications. Do not initiate contact prior to 4 weeks after submitting your application. Each program has criteria that must be met. For students who meet the programs criteria, some programs will be scheduling in order of submission and some programs will be reviewing applications and selecting who will rotate. Please contact the rotations specific program manager ONLY regarding RESIDENT rotations, not audition rotations.

There will be only 1 Audition rotation per program. For example, if you are auditioning for IM and want to rotate on the IM rotation, you can’t rotate on both GI and IM Staff because GI is also an audition rotation for IM. If you are auditioning for more than one program, you must submit a separate application for each request. Enter Information into the fields below and when completed, press the “Submit ” button. Please apply and you will be contacted for more information. All fields on the website application are MANDATORY unless otherwise noted. Not answering a field will result in a delay in processing your application. The VISA question applies to needing a visa for residency, not the rotation. If your school is not on the list, please apply and I will contact you. This is considered an initial application for enrollment and does not guarantee a rotation. All communication regarding rotations will be done by email only.

Scheduling Process

1. Verify your school is affiliated with Henry Ford Genesys Hospital on the list below (contact stopoli1@hfhs.org if it is not).
2. Submit an online request.
3. You must meet the criteria specified by each program in order to be considered for a rotation - no exceptions . If documents are required prior to scheduling, such as transcripts, they must be submitted to the UME Manager. You will receive an email notifying you if this is required.
4. The rotation will be scheduled based upon availability and your meeting the programs criteria. Once your rotation is confirmed, you will be sent an email with instructions regarding the required paperwork that must be submitted prior to your rotation.
5. There is a community housing list available prior to the start of the rotation.
6. The week prior to the rotation, you will begin receiving emails re: documents and orientation times. The required documents submitted for the rotation will not be reviewed until the week prior to the start of the rotation due to the volume of rotators.
7. Certain rotations have required reading prior to starting the rotation. The week before the start of the rotation you will be sent the reading.
8. The first day of the rotation, you will be scheduled for orientation, a tour of the hospital and computer training. Depending upon the number of students, it should take approximately 3 hours.
9. On your last day of the rotation, you are required to complete a checkout sheet and return your badge to the security office. You are also required to return scrubs to the scrub return machine.
