Program Highlights

Stem Cell Transplant, Cell and Gene Therapy Fellowship

The Stem Cell Transplant, Cell and Gene Therapy fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital is a one-year program that aims to transform already competent physicians into highly specialized experts capable of delivering advanced patient care, conducting impactful research, and contributing to the growth and innovation in this cutting-edge field of medicine. This year provides fellows with comprehensive clinical training in both inpatient and outpatient settings. They'll gain exposure to a wide array of stem cell transplant, cell and gene therapy in hematologic malignancy cases (including lymphoma, multiple myeloma, leukemias, amyloidosis, and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative disorders), as well as non-malignant conditions like hemoglobinopathies. In addition, it will provide exposure to variety of diverse patients and pathologies, clinical trials (including Blood & Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN), cell therapy and Gene therapy trials), research opportunities (including The Center for International Blood & Marrow Transplant Research CIBMTR proposals), laboratory experience in histocompatibility testing, and rotation in transplant infectious disease.

The CIBMTR is required each year to perform a center-specific survival analysis providing one-year survival rates among U.S. centers. This report contains outcomes for transplants using both related and unrelated donors. Henry Ford has consistently performed well despite of the very high-risk allogeneic transplants that we offer and based on the number of transplants we are competing with the leading institutions in the country.
