Application, Eligibility and Selection

The deadline to apply to the Henry Ford OMFS Residency training program via ADEA PASS is Friday, September 15, 2023. Additionally, all applicants will be required to complete the AMCAS Application to Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. The deadline for the AMCAS Application is Friday, September 22, 2023. Any individual who prepares and successfully submits a completed application for residency training by the deadline set forth by both the National Matching Services Inc. post doctorial dental matching program “Phase II - AEGD, US GPR, OMS and PED Only” and Henry Ford Hospital will be considered for the training program. The current deadline for receipt of application materials is September 15th. Individuals with the following qualification are eligible for acceptance to the training program.

All successfully submitted applications will be individually assessed for eligibility.

  1. Each applicant must meet both of the following criteria to be eligible for residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital.
    1. Graduate from a pre-doctoral dental education program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation; or Graduate from a pre-doctoral dental education program in Canada accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada
    2. Academic Achievement equal or surpassing a minimum level set forth by Michigan State University School of Human Medicine

      Michigan State University shall disqualify any application that does not meet its minimum standards for acceptance.
  2. Non-United States citizens must be eligible for appropriate Visa and licensure
    1. If and application does not meet these criteria the applicant will not be considered for enrollment into the Oral & Maxillofacial Training Program. If the applicant elects to reapply in the future the application will be reevaluated to determine edibility at that time.
  3. All applicants must be eligible for a “Dentist Clinical Academic Limited License” via Michigan’s Bureau of Professional Licensing, Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). This license must be obtained by December 31st of the second year of the program. More information can be found at https://www.michigan.gov/dentistry
  4. Interviews of candidates will be completed in the fall/winter of the year prior to matriculation

Background Check and Pre-Employment Drug Screen

Prior to matriculation, all students admitted to Henry Ford OMFS must complete a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen, the results of which must be satisfactory.
